Our nucs are typically 5 frames all with mostly drawn comb from spring or summer splits from our over-wintered stocks. Each nuc will have a locally raised and mated Italian or Carnolian queen from our VSH breeder queens in our queen rearing operation. Nucs are strong with at least one frame of brood from the queen that is present. In addition, there will be at least one full frame of honey, pollen stores, and some space open for the queen to continue laying. The nuc will be ready to place in your full-size hive body so the brood nest can continue to expand.
Note: These April nucs may have Italian queens purchased from southern Georgia since we typically start queen rearing locally in late March. We find the Georgia queens to be very prolific and docile. You can choose to have an over-wintered locally reared queen if you prefer.
Be sure to select the earliest delivery date that you want to receive your nucs. If the date you want is not available, select the next earliest available date and I will contact customers based on order date if I have additional nucs ready sooner than expected to see if you want to be moved up on the list.

Note: Our apiaries have been inspected by the local State Inspector and the Alabama Department of Agriculture and we have been issued a Certificate of Apiary Inspection for 2023.
Nucs are popular because they provide an highest chance of making it through the first winter while Packages tend to have a lower chance of success.
The full purchase price is required at time of purchase. If you decide you do not want the nuc you purchased, we will refund 80% of your purchase price.
